The new DAZ Studio 4.8 Pro is officially released. It comes with a new rendering engine called Iray. This rendering engine is intended for use in creating photo-realistic images. That is, you’re supposed to think you’re looking at a photo when you look at the image. See what you think.
Here’s a render of the Alani character, the same character as in my previous two posts. For this render I used the Iray rendering engine. I made some minor adjustments to the character’s pose in this scene, but it’s close to the same pose as in the previous images.
Take a quick look at the images in my previous two posts to compare with the results of other rendering engines and cameras. But first, take a look at another Iray render I made. I don’t mean to objectify anyone or anything with this render, I just wanted to see how the Iray rendering engine would handle large swaths of skin. Click the image to see a larger version.
Do you think either of the images above look like photos? I don’t think quite. But if I keep experimenting with Iray, maybe I can eventually do better.
